This page shows you how, and what you might need to connect your psion to PC/Mac or Modem.
Info on modem setups for PMI can be found on my PMI connect page.
Your Psion is a handy tool by itself, but it is a lot easier if you connect it your desktop comuter to backup, transfer files, print etc ..
Here are the cable layouts for you to build or purchase to connect your Psion to a myriad of items.
Standard Series 3c,mx,Siena,S5 Serial Cable
The most important item to carry around with you besides your Psion. The Serial Cable links your Psion to any computer or equipment (I have even configured cable modems and Cisco equipment with mine).
These are the connections to build a Psion 3c/mx or Series 5 Cable.
You will need the following (obtainable from CPC
CN00842 -- PCMCIA Cable Assy (colour Coding beside each connectio)
CSSOCKET15 -- 9 way sockets(in 10's)
CNDPT9B -- Plastic D hood and thumbscrews
CSCPL-12 -- D hood black cable grommet (in 10's)

GS-18 Mobile
The GS-18 mobile phone has a modem built in which works through a serial cable. Pinouts below are from Patrick Robbe
Psion -------------- GS18
8 ------- RxD ------- 4
4 ------- TxD ------- 11
2 ------- RTS ------- 1
7 ------- CTS ------- 9
5 ------- DSR ------- 8
6 ------- DCD ------- 8
3 ------- DTR ------- 2
15 ------ SG -------- 13
Yes, 5 and 6 on the Psion are connected to 8 on the GS18 (no typo)
You can purchase pre-built cables from Chris Archer
There is one thing you have to do with the null modem cable to get PMI to work, and that is set your DCD settings to Off in the port settings of your
Mail/Internet software. (Off,On,On,Off) for the cable to work. This does not effect the use of PMI nor the speed of your connection, so nothing to worry about.
Siemens S25 Mobile
The Siemens phone has a modem and infrared port built in, of course the Series 3c an mx machines cannot use this method, but the S25 can have a serial cable attached.
A handy 9pin male to male connector can splice your psion cable and this one together giving you in effect a desktop modem.
You do need to ensure that handshaking is set to Off,On,Off,Off, for this, and port speeds are only 19200, and init string of ATZ. Information given by Christian Just from Germany.
Once you have your cable, using software or Psion's Comms package is needed to talk to the outside world, and the page is here.
