Psion Dacom Global Fax/Modem Card 56k

The latest card in Psion Dacom's range is a little dissapointing.
Why?, are all PC Cards the same?
Well no. Firstly it does not support class two faxing capability, making psifax and faxit it useless, and secondly you need to purchase the GSM upgrade kit, at the cost of an extra 80 quid to get it to talk to your phone (and the software only works with windows!).
You do get class 2 when you have upgraded to to GSM capable, annd only through your phone.
I have one, replcing my rather sturdy old Sportster 28k card, thinking nice speed with fax and mobile capability, but no - extra cash I had to fork out.

One the plus side it's slick, quick to connect without a faulter (even V90!). Cables are well designed and of course the socket end for the landline cable is interchangable depending on what country you are in.
Cables are a good design, they should last a while.

Rating: Hmm 2.5 out of 5, GSM should be on it already, and Fax class 2 capability should have been there as standard. It goes to prove that the Psion divisions do not talk to eachother about product ranges.
