Ro's Battery Life Page

This page is designed for users to get the most of their batteries.
It will explain which type of batteries you can us and how much you would expect to get from them.

Getting the most out of any set of batteries
In any battery you use, try to avoid the most 'guzzlable' applications, backlight and comms. These can greatly reduce the battery life (even by as much as 50%). Make sure that you switch off any comms software after use, and use your backlight sparingly.

Alkaline Batteries
These are the most common of batteries that you can get. The most common are Energiser and duracell, but there are many more to choose from.
Average battery life is 2200 mAh, which equates to around 24 hours at about 70mA.

Rechargable Batteries
These have a lesser life span than the common batteries, more like 1600mAh, and drain rapidly when using comms. these are a good idea if you use your machine on a regular basis, but keep a charged copy handy because once the Psion declares that they are low, the power drops very quickly.

Backup Batteries
This is the little battery stored under your Drive A bay door. it is a 1640 Lithium Battery (Casio call them CR, Duracell DR, they are the same size). Average life of these are about 8-10 months, again depenent on the Psion usage. I have had my machine now for almost a year and have yet to install an new battery. It is always handy to have one spare.
