Psion PC Card Adapter

With the same feel as a 3c, this device is a sleek piece of kit.
Using 4xAA batteries this adapter, along with a modem card, provides mobile connectivity to the web, fax and other comms applications for the user.
Batteries do not last as long as I would like, around 20 quick 4-6 minute email dialups, between 1.5 to 2 hours. I am now consoling myself into carrying 6 AA's just in case they fail in both my 3c and the Adapter. The adapter can also be powered by a 6v DC Power adapter.

Very easy to setup, slot the PC Card in, just plug it in, and set PMI to general modem, and off you go. Faxing depends on the card you put in.

The advantage the Card Adapter over the travel or standard modem is that the cards can be interchanged to give you either land or mobile lines using relevant modem cards. With a GSM Card plugging in your mobile phone to the web/fax becomes a doddle, making the Psion a truly mobile device for today's user.
Drawbacks: Expensive, the adapter is 90gbp itself, and depending on your requirements, the PC modem card prices start at around 70gbp. At this cost it might have been a more versatile device, possibly giving SCSI connectivity or LAN Card use.

My rating: 3 / 5, Batteries and price, the main bugbear. But using a GSM Card gives such great possibilities.
